Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 September 2026

1. Who We Are

Film Faster (ifilmfaster.com) is a verified opportunity and progress network for the film, television and music industries. It connects filmmakers with work, talent, financing, distribution, collaborators and education.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it.

Film Faster is operated by Providence Film Group, 3010 Wilshire Blvd #304, Los Angeles, CA 90010. For privacy questions and data requests, contact info@filmfasterfest.com.

2. Minimum Age and Members Under 18

Film Faster requires members to be at least 16 years old. We collect date of birth at registration to enforce this. Registration is blocked below 16.

If you are 16 or 17, additional protections apply:

  • Your date of birth is stored privately. It is never shown on your profile, in search results, or to other members.
  • Your account remains in a limited state until a parent or guardian provides consent. We collect the guardian's name and email address, and record the date and time consent was given.
  • You cannot enable a casting profile without recorded guardian consent.
  • Adults cannot start a conversation with you. You may only receive messages from members you have contacted first, through a connection or application you initiated.
  • Where a casting search returns your profile, that search is recorded in an audit log identifying that a minor was returned.

These controls are enforced on our servers, not only in the interface.

We are aware that engaging minors in casting and production is separately regulated in many jurisdictions — including work permits, set guardians and studio teachers — and that data protection consent ages vary by country. Members and production companies remain responsible for meeting those obligations.

If you believe a person under 16 has registered, contact us at the address in Section 12 and we will investigate and remove the account.

3. What We Collect

3.1 Account and identity

  • Email address and password (hashed by the authentication system)
  • Name
  • Date of birth, and a derived indicator of whether you are under 18
  • Guardian name, guardian email and consent timestamp, where applicable
  • Account role and status, and any moderation state applied to your account
  • Records of your acceptance of our Community Standards, including the version accepted and when

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

3.2 Profile (your Film Faster Passport)

Information you choose to provide, including: display name, headline, biography, profile photo, professional roles, skills, experience level, location (including approximate coordinates if you enable location features), availability, preferred genres and budget levels, markets served, travel radius, credits, portfolio and reel links, what you offer, what you need, your public profile address, and your notification preferences.

You control whether your profile is public, and separately whether your contact details and location are visible.

3.3 Casting profile — sensitive data

If you choose to enable a casting profile, we additionally store: playable age range, gender and playable gender, ethnic appearance, height, build, hair colour, eye colour, union status, languages, accents, special skills and local hire markets.

This is sensitive personal data. It is held in a separate record with restricted access, visible only to you and to authorised personnel. It is not shown on your public profile. Searches that return casting profiles are logged.

Providing this data is entirely optional. You can disable your casting profile at any time.

3.4 Projects and professional content

Project titles, loglines, synopses, genres, format, stage, budget and financing information, distribution and rights status, territories, production locations, video links, artwork and creative materials. Opportunities, mandates and marketplace listings you post. Applications you submit, including cover notes.

Projects can be marked private. You separately choose whether a project with a video link appears in the Film Faster Watch showcase; this is off by default.

3.5 Messages and connections

The content of messages you send and receive, conversation participants and timestamps, whether you have read a conversation, your connections and introduction requests, and members you have blocked.

Messages are screened automatically for malicious links before delivery.

3.6 Academy

Lessons completed, bookmarks, private notes you write, enrolment and progress, waitlist entries, and any capstone work you submit.

3.7 Trust and safety

If you submit a report, or are the subject of one, we hold: the report and its category, the reporter's identity, a preserved copy of the reported content captured at the time of reporting, any evidence you attach, moderator notes, the outcome, any enforcement applied to an account, and appeals and their decisions.

Preserved content copies are retained even if the original is later edited or deleted, so that reports can be reviewed fairly.

Reporter identities are never disclosed to the person reported.

3.8 Security signals

To protect the platform from fraud, phishing and abuse we may record: your session IP address, and intelligence about that address including country, network operator and whether it appears to be a VPN, proxy or datacentre. We also record details of malicious links blocked in messages.

This information is accessible only to authorised administrators.

3.9 How you found us

When you arrive at the site we record campaign parameters present in the link you followed, the referring website, and the page you landed on. If you register, this is stored once against your account so we can understand which channels bring members to the platform.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not track you across other websites.

3.10 Operational records

Notifications and emails sent to you, and technical performance logs. Performance logs are pruned automatically.

4. Why We Use It

  • To create and operate your account, and verify you meet the minimum age
  • To run the matching engine that connects your needs with relevant opportunities, people and projects, and to generate Next Move recommendations
  • To display your profile and work to other members, according to your visibility settings
  • To deliver messages, applications, connections and notifications
  • To operate the Academy and record your progress
  • To generate documents you request, such as one-sheets and pitch decks
  • To keep the platform safe: screening links, investigating reports, enforcing our Community Standards, and protecting minors
  • To understand which channels bring members to the platform
  • To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests

5. Who We Share It With

5.1 Other members

Your profile and published content are visible according to the settings you choose. Messages are visible only to the people in that conversation. Your moderation history is never shown to other members.

5.2 Service providers

We use third parties to operate the platform. Those that may receive your personal data are:

  • Base44 — the platform our application runs on, which hosts our database, file storage, authentication and email delivery
  • Google — if you choose to sign in with Google
  • ip-api.com — receives an IP address for security intelligence
  • Spamhaus and FishFish — receive a hostname or domain for link threat screening
  • RDAP registries — receive a domain name for registration lookups
  • An AI language model provider, via Base44 — receives text you have asked us to process, for example when generating a document from your project

We also retrieve information from external sources that receive no personal data about you. These include film incentive and production records published by government agencies, grant listings, trade news feeds, employer job boards, film and title metadata from TMDB, and media metadata from YouTube and Vimeo.

This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

5.3 Social media

We may publish content about the platform to our own social media accounts. We do not publish your name, your projects or your outcomes without your explicit, separate consent, which is off by default and which you can withdraw.

5.4 Legal

We may disclose information where required by law, or where necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of members, the public or Film Faster — including reports concerning the safety of a minor.

6. Retention

  • Account and profile data: kept while your account is open
  • Messages and applications: kept while your account is open, and may be retained afterwards where another member is party to the exchange
  • Moderation records, including preserved content copies and enforcement history: retained after an account closes, so that safety decisions remain auditable
  • Security signals: deleted automatically 24 months after they are recorded.
  • Technical performance logs: pruned automatically after a short period
  • Cached data from external sources: short-lived, and contains no personal data

7. Your Choices and Rights

From your account you can:

  • View and correct your information in your Passport and Preferences
  • Control whether your profile, contact details and location are public
  • Choose whether a project appears in the Watch showcase
  • Enable or disable your casting profile
  • Manage notification preferences. Messages about your own account status are always sent
  • Block other members
  • Export your data
  • Deactivate your account, hiding it from other members
  • Delete your account

On deletion we remove your profile, needs, offers and personal content. Some records are retained where we have a continuing obligation — moderation records, and messages where another member is party to the conversation.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to complain to your data protection authority. Contact us to exercise these.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser storage that are necessary for the service: keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences, and holding the referral information described in Section 3.9 until you register.

We do not use advertising cookies and we do not permit third-party tracking on the platform. See our Cookie Policy for detail.

9. Security

Passwords are hashed. Sensitive casting data is held separately with restricted access. Moderation and security records are restricted to authorised personnel. Access to member data through our systems is controlled by server-side permission rules rather than interface restrictions alone. Links shared in messages are screened. Credentials for external services are held server-side and never exposed in your browser.

No system is completely secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data we will act promptly and notify you and any relevant authority where required.

10. International Transfers

The platform and its service providers operate from the United States. If you access Film Faster from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your own country.

If the platform actively targets members in the UK or EEA, an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism will be put in place.

11. Changes

We will update this policy as the platform develops. Where a change is material we will tell you in the application and, where appropriate, ask you to accept the revised version.
